As the UK lockdown eases further in June with the re-opening of non-essential retail shops, many people will be looking forward to spending more time away from home.
If you are considering visiting your local shops it is vital to continue social distancing and maintain high levels of personal hygiene. At Complete Care Shop we offer a variety of personal care products and mobility aids that can help you to shop safely.
If you are visiting a supermarket or a local shop, you must continue to follow the two-metre social distancing rule and maintain good hygiene practices, namely avoiding touching your face and washing or sanitising your hands with hygiene aids.
When soap and water are unavailable, you can protect your hands with a hand sanitiser. Sanitisers with a high alcohol level, such as the Hand Sanitiser Gel, can kill 99.99% of bacteria and viruses and reduce the risk of spreading or contracting infections. If you’re using a hand sanitiser it is best to apply it before and after your trip, but also wash your hands as soon as you get home.
Some people may also choose to wear gloves and a face mask, which can both offer good protection but only if used correctly. Most gloves, including the Disposable Nitrile Gloves, will help to keep your hands clean and dry, but will only be effective if you avoid touching your face and other common surfaces, such as your mobile phone, whilst wearing them.
If you decide to wear a face mask in public, it must be worn correctly over both your nose AND mouth. The mask must also be well fitted so you do not touch and reposition it – if you do touch the mask whilst using it be sure to clean your hands immediately with an alcohol-based hand rub or soap and water. Face masks can be found online and are ideal for use at home or when out in public. Before purchasing a mask, it’s important to understand how it can protect you and the people around you by reading our article on “Should you wear a face mask?”.
If you decide to venture out and about but need some support when walking or carrying shopping, you may consider a mobility aid. Rollators, such heavy duty, can typically be used on smooth terrains both indoors and outdoors and are controlled with two handle bars and brakes. As well as providing walking support, rollators typically include a basket or bag which can be used to carry small shopping items, helping to avoid falls through overbalancing, and most 4-wheel rollators also feature a seat, providing a place to rest. Alternatively, you may also consider a car boot mobility scooter that can easily travel with you.
If you can walk to your local shop, or need a safer way to carry your shopping to the car, a shopping trolley may be suitable to avoid overbalancing or strain from carrying heavy bags. The Shopping Trolley with Seat has a classic design and wheels that make it easier to pull up stairs and kerbs. This trolley is ideal if you need to stop and take a break.
